TEAM DAI CHALLENGE - Disclaimer 1. I for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, hereby waive all and any claim, right or cause of action which I or they might otherwise have for or arising out of loss of my life or injury, damage or loss or any description whatsoever which I may suffer or sustain in the course of or consequent upon my participation in the Team Dai Challenge. 2. I will abide by the following rules: • Hazards - clearly announce and/or signal hazards to the group. There are a few simple but crucial words and hand signals you need to know, practiced during our training rides. • Do not overlap wheels! - Fairly obvious, but the last thing we want is a crash, so make sure if you are riding behind another rider, to stay off to one side (at least 10cm), not directly behind his/her wheel. If he/she has to stop suddenly, things could get ugly! • Smooth and steady - when you are at the front, do not make erratic movements and keep your speed steady. • Leading and following - when you are leading the pack and are ready to move aside and let another rider (or pair of riders) lead, do not stop pedalling but smoothly move to the right side and signal for the rider(s) behind you to take over. Drop back and take up position at the rear of the pack. The last rider never stays alone – if during the ride someone falls behind, at least one team member stays with the person to ensure he/she is doing alright 3. I recognise the physical risks associated with the Team Dai Challenge and declare that I am physically fit to compete safely in this event, and that I have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical person. 4. I hereby consent that I have the sole responsibility to be equipped with the following (athletic equipment): • Bike (Each rider must have his/her own bike to ride. It must be of sufficient quality to stand up to 4 days of riding on paved and unpaved roads and must have good brakes (for the big downhills!). The bike has to be well maintained, give it or have it serviced before the Challenge. • Helmet (no helmet, no ride - simple as that), padded cycle shorts and gloves are also essential pieces of equipment (for obvious reasons!). Gloves are highly advisable. • Spare tube, tyre levers, a pump and some basic tools (you need to be self-sufficient). • Lights (if we are starting early). Sun-protection (for obvious reasons!) and skin cream (if the padded cycle shorts are not sufficient). 5. I hereby acknowledge that I have sole responsibility for my personal possessions and athletic equipment during th eTeam Dai Challenge and related activities. 6. I hereby consent to receive medical treatment, which may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident and/or illness during the Team Dai Challenge. 7. I hereby acknowledge that I have sole responsibility for any costs associated with an injury or accident (transportation, medical treatment etc.). A health insurance is highly recommended.
